Midlands Fencing Academy KZN Closed Competition

Midlands Fencing Academy hosted the second KZN Closed Competition at Cowan House on Saturday, 18th May.

The ages ranged from U11 to senior fencers.

MFA hosted Maestro Fencing Club, Hilcrest Fencing Club, and UKZN Club.

Caitlyn Penz, one of Drakondale School of the Arts teachers, took part in the woman's senior EPEE event. Although Caitlyn did not qualify for a medal, this was her first competition, and she showed her competitive edge.

Jenna Ingram, one of Drakondale"s Grade 11 learners, fenced in the senior foil category and managed to beat out all the boys to win gold.

Jenna also beat long-time rival Elri Marais from Maestro Fencing Club to win gold in a woman's senior EPEE.

The event was a great success, and we look forward to the next competition in Durban in July.

L-R: Jenna Ingram and Caitlyn Pentz.

Drakondale School of the Arts is a High School for Boys and Girls from grade 8-12
