Learners from Drakondale School of the Arts participated in a friendly chess tournament hosted by Carter High School on 25 February 2026. The team attended the event at the invitation of Howick High School. Congrats to the following learners for their participation: Eden Swartling, Suhail Dhukram, Caiden Burnie and Jashveer Ramsamooj. Thank you to one of parents Sherri Burnie for transporting our learners to PMB and another thank you to Nick Cole-Bowen, another parent who has offered to coach the chess team.
The tournament provided an opportunity for players to engage with fellow young chess enthusiasts from other schools, fostering both camaraderie and healthy competition. Participants from Drakondale School of the Arts expressed enthusiasm about the experience, noting that the event allowed them to assess the level of talent across participating schools while sharpening their own skills.
School representatives indicated that this friendly encounter marks the beginning of what they hope will be continued growth and development in their chess programme. Further updates are expected as the season progresses.
